Where did we come from!?

When we sat down to discuss the formation of HDP as an education provider, we had no idea of the journey that we were about to undertake.  What started off as a pure training company has turned into a full bespoke solutions provision company providing “High Quality, Developed for You and Professional Education Programmes.” I always tell our clients, “I wouldn’t deliver exactly the same programme to an Engineering Company that I would to a Care Home, and nor should you expect to receive it.”

I had recently left the NHS Ambulance Services after 9 years service, where I was a Paramedic working within the Education Centre as a Clinical Education Development Specialist, creating and delivering update and basic qualification training programmes to front line staff.  My other careers had included service in the Royal Navy, HM Prison Service, Secure Mental Health, Security Supervision / Sales / Management, sales in a Brewery (!) looking after over 120 pubs, and Financial Services. I always referred to this as ‘my checkered past’, although I had long ago realised that I no longer had to prove anything to myself!

A wise colleague advised me to embrace this history, and apply this wide range of life and career experience to my CV. In his words, “to embrace and utilise experience”.  I had undergone a multitude of entrance exams, recruitment processes, interviews and come out alive! In my time in the Ambulance Service, and other roles, I had advised others on career progression, and achieved my own goals.

My wife Hazel had gone from strength to strength in her careers also. She had gone from Debt Recovery,  to Sales, to Sales Management for Blue Chip companies, as well as other roles.  But that’s her blog!

So, with a fresh set of goals, and a passion to provide the best quality services to our customers, we have hit the road running.
