Paramedic Assaulted…. Where does it end?
Working for the Emergency and Essential User Services carries with it a certain amount of give and take.
It is accepted, for instance, that people are more likely to complain than they are to say thank you officially. There is also a certain amount of abuse, accepted as the norm, due to pain, emotion, alcohol, drugs, or plain old rudeness. You may say that the staff shouldn’t have to accept this. I would agree, but they do, and continue to provide an exceptional service in the face of growing economic instability in their jobs.
Anything above these levels of abuse is clearly not acceptable. Violence is NEVER acceptable.
NWAS, the North West Ambulance Service has issued a Press Release concerning a Paramedic who has been assaulted suffering a fractured skull and extensive bruising. We extend our full best wishes for a speedy recovery.
I hope that the perpetrator is held fully responsible and subjected to the full extent of the Law.
Please, say a firm NO to Abuse and Violence to anyone, not least the Emergency Services.
